Reindeer Sledding & Ice Domes Visit
Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, we dress in warm winter clothes and boots and then head off to explore the ancient part of Sami culture and try the oldest form of transport in the north. As our reindeer herd is some distance from our barking huskies, your adventure will start with a short transfer by minibus to our Sami Camp. This fascinating cultural adventure includes reindeer sledding, introduction in lasso throwing, storytelling about the Sami culture and feeding the reindeer.
After this memorable encounter with the indigenous Sami people, you will return to Camp Tamok where we will serve you a hot meal around an open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, it is time to head back to the Tromsø Ice Domes for more memorable experience!
After your reindeer sledding and Sami adventure, the next excursion will begin with a visit to the Tromsø Ice Domes. Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, Tromsø Ice Domes is built every year as the Polar Night approaches. At the Ice Domes you will join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of the ice hotel and the impact the snow has for the survival of our arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask the experienced guide questions, as well as admire the unique snow and ice art carved by professional artists. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complimentary.

Food & beverages
During the tour, we will serve you a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. Due to the limited access to a kitchen, we serve a traditional Norwegian soup/stew. The main ingredient is meat (lamb or reindeer) or fish. All meals contain vegetables and we also serve “Polar bread” on the side. We serve coffee, tea and water to the meal. Vegetarian food will be provided if notice is given. Upon booking this tour, please advise us of any food allergies; we will provide an alternative option.
Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the Tromsø Ice Domes.
What to wear & bring with you?
