Dogsledding, Ice Domes Guided Tour, and Reindeer Visit
Dog sledding is a tradition of travel in the Arctic. Our dog sledding consist of a musher, a sled and Alaskan huskies. It´s an adventurous activity for your Arctic holiday in Tromsø. We love doing this and want to share the amazing feeling of leading a dog sled with happy and strong Alaskan huskies. From our kennel we slide into the snow-covered valley of Tamokdalen, between trees and over hills.
You don´t need any experience because our guides will give you all the equipment you need, teach you how to use the sled and then into the wild we go. You will drive in pairs and rotate halfway along the track. We will pick you up with our bus in Tromsø city and drive you back after the tour.
For all departures, pick-up is outside the Clarion Edge Hotel in Tromsø. Please meet up 10 min before your departure. Our driver and bus will meet you in front of the hotel
TROMSØ ICE DOMES
Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, Tromso Ice Domes is built every year as the Polar Night approaches.
The snow and ice art reflects the unique bond between man and nature in a unique and breath-taking manner. The ice bar, our ice cinema, the ice bedrooms and ice restaurant have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the northern lights conveyed through beautiful colored lighting and wonderful ice sculptures.
At the Ice Domes you will join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of an ice hotel and the impact the snow has for the survival of our arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions to the experienced guide. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complementary. You will be able to purchase other drinks, which will be served in the ice restaurant or ice bar.
During this combination tour, we also provide give you a chance to visit our small herd of reindeer located at the Ice Domes for reindeer feeding. This is included free of charge in your tour.
Additional: Lunch is included in this activity. Alcoholic shots can be bought at the ice bar AFTER the dogsledding tour.
Dog sledding with our Alaskan huskies is an active experience. The sled team consist of two and two people on one sled sharing a team of dogs. Alaskan huskies love to run and together with the team you have to help and push on parts of the tour. Team work is essential in dog sledding.
Because of the activity level, we do not recommend dog sledding for people with physical disabilities, back problems, pelvic problems or for pregnant women past five months.
Our dogyard is located 15 minutes drive further away from the Ice Domes as we wish to give you this experience in untouched nature.
The Ice Domes are around -5C inside, with an average temperature of -10 to -15C outside.

Upon arrival at Tromsø Ice Domes, we will provide warm winter clothing and give you demonstrations on how to steer the Dog Sled. You do not need previous skils, but good physical health will be needed. Afterwards, you will explore the beauty of the Tromsø Ice Domes.
We recommend dressing according to the season and in layers so you can adjust your clothing to the weather conditions. We advise dressing warm undergarments & wear warm winter boots.
At Tromsø Ice Domes you can borrow winter overall suits if necessary.
During the Dog Sledding tour, we will serve a light meal and hot drinks, while at the Ice Domes you get to try a welcome drink from local berries. Tromsø Ice Domes has a bar where you can purchase cold and hot beverages.
