Reindeer Sledding Daytime

Spend a day with the ingenious people and try the oldest form of transport in the north!

Prices from 1845

Meet the indigenous Sami people, hear their stories and have a close-up encounter with their Reindeer. Our Sami culture and Reindeer sledding experience takes place at Camp Tamok, a 75-minute scenic drive from downtown Tromso.

We have daily departures via scenic fjord and mountain landscape every morning and evening throughout the winter season. The daytime adventures offer wonderful views.

Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, we dress in warm winter clothes and boots and then head off to explore the ancient part of Sami culture and try the oldest form of transport in the north. As our reindeer herd is some distance from our barking huskies, your adventure will start with a short transfer by minibus to our Sami Camp. This fascinating cultural adventure includes reindeer sledding, introduction in lasso throwing, storytelling about the Sami culture and feeding the reindeer.

After this memorable encounter with the indigenous Sami people, you will return to Camp Tamok where we will serve you a hot meal around an open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, it is time to head back to Tromso and reflect on a memorable experience.

08:45 outside Tromsø Magic Ice Bar.

09:00 - 16:00.

Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, you will meet your Sami guide that will provide you with warm winter clothing, guide you through the Sami culture and bring you for a sled ride with the Reindeers. After the Reindeer visit, you will be served traditional Nord Norwegian lunch.

To Camp Tamok we travel by big bus together with guests doing other activities like Dog Sledding, Snowmobiling, Reindeer Sledding, Arctic Truck Driving and our guests staying overnight.

Camp Tamok exclusively built as wilderness camp for outdoor activities. We have found a fair balance for authentic but still comfortable holidays. Our camp is composed of traditional and rustic Northern Norwegian buildings consisting of several lavvus, timber cabins heated by wood stoves and oil lamps complementing with modern kitchen, showers and toilet facilities.

We have found the perfect location with the wilderness at our doorstep. Our Husky Kennel and Reindeer Enclosure is the mark to step into the uninhabited winter wonderland.

A traditional Norwegian meal and hot drinks will be served during the tour. You have a chance to purchase cold drinks at the camp.

We recommend dressing according to the season and in layers so you can adjust your clothing to the weather conditions, but if necessary, you can borrow winter suits, hat, mittens and boots at the camp.
