Lofoten Eagle and Whale Route
Explore the majestic wildlife on our sightseeing cruise to Værøy.
Lofoten Eagle and Whale Route onboard Aurora Explorer is a trip for those who want to experience a little more adventure into the wilderness than Lofoten offers. Our guided cruise sails along the steep mountainsides of Lofotodden National Park and through the world's strongest whirlpool – Moskenesstraumen – where the current ensures optimal biodiversity.
On our way to Værøy, we cruise by the island of Mosken and several others like Høgholmen and Svarvan to observe the local birds like - white-tailed sea eagles, sea owls, golden eagles, puffins, northern gannets and razorbills. The Humpback whales and Orcas often hunt for herring and mackerel here as well. Our English-speaking guide and crew on board will be on the lookout for the native fauna and tell you about the environment that surrounds you. You will be surprised how much can go unnoticed!
Upon arrival to Værøy, you have several choices: you can explore the island independently on foot or rent a bicycle for an additional charge of 200NOK.
A 25 min walk from the boat will take you to the starting point of the hike up to the famous Instagram point, Håen. The hike up the mountain is 3.2 km and takes over an hour; therefore gives you a priceless overview of the whole island.
For those who do not want to go back to Å or Reine, several accommodations are available to stay the night at Værøy (not included in the price and have to be organized independently).
On our way back to Å and Reine, we will sail through the Moskenesstraumen once again and slow down to search for the big marine mammals.
Join us from your chosen destination (Å or Reine) and explore the wild nature at the very end of Lofoten!
